What is Habitrol?
Habitrol is a high quality, low priced nicotine patch system, made by Novartis, the world's leading pharmaceutical-grade transdermal patch manufacturer ($19 billion total annual sales). It's a 3-Step program like Nicoderm CQ and has helped hundreds of thousands of people quit smoking.

What is the difference between Habitrol and Nicoderm CQ?
Both are 3-Step programs, starting with Step 1 patches at 21 mg of nicotine, then Step 2 patches at 14 mg and finishing with Step 3 patches at 7 mg. The two programs are essentially equivalent. For Heavy Smokers, Nicoderm CQ suggests six weeks on Step 1 and Habitrol suggests four weeks. Our customers have been satisfied with either of the two suggestions. The main difference is price, with Habitrol being lower.

How does Habitrol work?
The Habitrol patch contains nicotine, the addictive agent in tobacco products. When you wear a patch, it gradually releases nicotine into your bloodstream through the skin. By replacing some of the nicotine to which your body has become accustomed from smoking, the patch helps reduce your nicotine withdrawal symptoms. By following the 3-Step program you gradually wean your body of its nicotine cravings over an eight-week period until you are nicotine free.

Will Nicotine Replacement Therapy help me quit?
Research has shown that smokers who use patches or gum as nicotine replacement therapy and participate in a behavior change program can double their chances of quitting.

Quitting smoking is a two-step process that includes: overcoming the physical addiction to nicotine, and breaking the smoking habit.

Nicotine replacement therapy, using patches or gum, helps take care of the nicotine addiction so that you can work on breaking the habit. Each smoking cessation product we sell comes with a FREE Stop Smoking program to assist you in breaking the habit. Additional free resources can be found at: American Lung Association: www.lungusa.org/tobacco.

Which program is right for me, Heavy Smoker or Light Smoker?
If you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day, follow the 8-week Heavy Smoker Program. Use Step 1 (21mg.) for 4 weeks, Step 2 (14mg.) for 2 weeks, and Step 3 (7mg.) for 2 weeks.

If you smoke 10 or less a day, follow the 8-week Light Smoker Program. Use Step 2 (14mg.) for 6 weeks and Step 3 (7mg.) for 2 weeks.

Will I notice the lower levels of Step 2 and 3?
You probably will not. Your body can adjust to lower nicotine levels if you do it gradually. Doctors and pharmacists prefer the gradual method. And following the 8 week program really does help improve your chances of quitting successfully.
